VS Arizona Diamond Backs 6/12/07

Two things from Michael Kay today(so far anyway). First the usual stuff, and well second just sends me over the top.

Michael Kay - "It seems the longer you are around this game you realize, that its much more mental then it is physical. Boy if a guy feels good about himself and thinks he's going to get a hit, he's probably going to get one.And then If you're feeling for it, you're wondering and you're hoping ... you can't hope to get a hit."

Right... like so all you have to do is go up there and think you are going to get a hit and BAM, you get a hit. I'm trying out tomorrow!!! I think he should tell the Yankees the secret. Then they could all be hitting over 500.

Michael Kay - "Why do you think it never really worked out for Randy, with the Yankees, the numbers were fine, you can't argue with the production, he never seemed as if he was happy."

Please John talk some sense into him....

John Flaherty - "... The numbers were pretty good at the end of the day. ... Everybody expects greatness every time out there and it just didn't happen."

Ok, I guess being the personal catcher of Randy you have to kiss his ass, fine, anyway. You guys are both smoking crack!!! Ok lets go over this slowly. In 2005 he went 17-8, with a 3.79 ERA which is good for a ERA+ of 117. Not terrible... but not quite what the Yankees signed up for either, when you consider that his career ERA+ is 137 and had a 171 the year before.

Now for 2006. 17-11 with an ERA of 5.00 and ERA+ of 88. That's absolute garbage. Oh Kay will talk about his 17 wins, but he had ridiculous run support that year. Don't even try to talk to me about 'pitching to the score'. John we weren't expecting great things every time out, but we were expecting it at some point during the season!! Ug!!!
